The Breath Anchor
A simple reset for anxious or overwhelmed moments
This practice is your emergency anchor — something you can do anywhere, anytime, in 60 seconds or 5 minutes. When the mind is spinning, the breath is the fastest path back to the present moment. You cannot change your thoughts by fighting them, but you can return to the body instantly through the breath.
Stop and Notice
Wherever you are, pause. Notice that you are breathing. You have been breathing this entire time without thinking about it. Your body knows what to do. You can trust it.
Box Breathing
Begin a simple breathing pattern: Inhale slowly for 4 counts. Hold for 4 counts. Exhale for 4 counts. Hold for 4 counts. Repeat this cycle 4 times. If your mind wanders — and it will — simply return to counting. No judgment. That's the practice.
Name What's Here
After your four cycles, take a natural breath and ask: "What am I feeling right now?" Name it without judgment. Anxious. Tired. Frustrated. Rushed. Simply naming an emotion reduces its intensity. You are not the emotion. You are the one noticing it.
Return
Take one long, slow exhale — longer than feels natural. Feel your feet on the ground. Feel your breath in your chest. You are here. You are okay. You can continue.
