Finding Meaning in the Ordinary
A midday pause to reconnect with purpose
Frankl taught that meaning doesn't only live in grand moments — it lives in the quiet, ordinary ones too. This short midday practice helps you step out of autopilot and reconnect with why any of this matters. It's a reset, not an escape.
Pause
Stop what you are doing. Put down your phone. Step away from the screen. Sit somewhere quiet — or simply close your eyes where you are. Take three deep breaths and arrive.
Notice the Small
Look around you — or picture where you are right now. Find one small, ordinary thing that you are glad exists. A cup of tea. Sunlight. Silence. A familiar smell. A memory of someone you love. Stay with it for a moment. Really feel your appreciation for it.
Ask Frankl's Question
Gently ask yourself: "What is life asking of me right now — not what do I want from life, but what does life want from me?" Don't force an answer. Just hold the question. Sometimes the question itself is enough.
Choose Your Response
Take a final breath. Remember: between every stimulus and your response, there is a space. In that space is your freedom. You get to choose how you return to your day. Open your eyes. Go gently.
